Mediamatic’s new location, is situated in the Van Gendthallen,
old ship building halls on the Oostenburgereiland east of the center of
Amsterdam. They are huge, and are surrounded by, at least for Amsterdam
standards, loads of space. This urban playground will be transformed into
an eco-friendly oasis for urban agriculture. Right now the team is working
on aquaponics.
Freezing Favela
A temporary city at Mediamatic Fabriek

A group of designers, cooks and other makers are sharing
our huge, leaking, unheated space in the Van Gendthallen. In the Freezing
Favela you can make tosti's from scratch, bricks from old newspapers, furniture
from cardboard, and cook with ingredients from the aquaponics farm. Favela-citizens
give workshops and organize events and meals. They work autonomously together.
There's a vodka distillery, you can take yoga and cooking classes, or enjoy
a glass of fresh milk from De Tostifabriek outside. Adventurous campers
can spend the night in the Hot Love Nest, a one-bed-hotel on top of a compost
pile. And enjoy breakfast in the Favela's pop-up canteen, Favelous.

Aquaponics Workshops
Leer hoe je een aquaponics ecosysteem kan bouwen

Bij Mediamatic experimenteren we met aquaponics: een
duurzaam ecosysteem voor voedselproductie, waarbij planten en vissen samen
worden gekweekt. De eerste workshop was een succes en we delen graag onze
kennis met je, zodat je thuis aan de slag kan met je eigen aquaponics systeem.

De workshop vindt plaats in Mediamatic Fabriek van 10.00
tot 18.00 en kost € 100, inclusief drankjes en lunch. (In de mailing
van 21 juni is per ongeluk het verkeerde bedrag (€ 50) genoemd, excuses
daarvoor).
Ruilen
Sociaal winkelen zonder je portemonnee te hoeven trekken.
Breng de broek die je niet alleen aan krijgt, het spel dat
je altijd verliest en de boeken die je aan het huilen maken. En ruil ze
voor iets nieuws. Tot januari is Mediamatic Fabriek de plek waar je terecht
kunt met je ongewenste sinterklaascadeaus en miskopen. En voor massages
en knipbeurten. Ruilen toont ook werk van kunstenaars die het ruilen beoefenen
en verhalen.
