Een van de grootste festivals van Europa. Heeft een zeer
gevarieerd programma. Duurt een week lang, heeft ongelooflijk veel podia
(60) en acts (1000) en is dankzij de goedkope (drank) prijzen een erg interessante
vakantiebestemming. De hele week is er veel te doen, muziek, film, theater,
maar ook pottenbakken, kaarsen maken, een cursus Hongaars. Verschillende
goede doelen hebben ook een stand op het festivalterrein en de Hare Krisna
zorgt voor gratis maaltijden.

Budapest-based Sziget is one Europe’s most popular festivals,
known for its versatile programs, value for money and very importantly
its unique atmosphere. Sziget Festival welcomes visitors from the entire
continent and all over the world from augusztus (6-7) 8-13 2012
Sziget will still share the ’Sziget feeling’ for seven
days, while the festival will start with a warm-up day on Monday, August
6th. Although there won’t be any organized concerts on this day, the bars
and pubs will all operate. On the following ’zero day’ there will be an
international superstar performing on the Mainstage and from Wednesday
on the normal festival days – just like in the previous years – will start
with more than 60 program venues and thousand programs per day.
This festival takes place for a whole week on an island called
Óbuda or in the Hungarian langugage Sziget.This island is located
in Budapest, is about 70 footbalfields big and prepared for camping and
podia. There is plenty of camping on the site, or you can stay in Budapest
which is just a short tram ride from the location.
Beer and food are very cheap compared to Western European
festival standards.
